There are those moments in life that almost startle you and make you say "....Oh...I understand now...."
I had one of the moments tonight.
I'm chaperoning a little get together for some of the dancers tonight (the photo to the right is their "karate" kick) and it was just so strange hearing them discuss their troubles ("My school friends don't really understand..." "I messed up SO bad in rehearsal yesterday..."), see them interact with their different personalities (the leader, the loud one, the quiet one, the ditz...) and realize that they are now just like "we" were then. By "we" and mean anyone that has been in Ballet Etudes.
They were so joyous in their discussion and had no real cares or worries like they will once they became true adults.
In my head, the opening song "The Circle of Life" from Lion King began and I imagined Mufasa and Simba up on Pride Rock.
A strange rush of emotion came over me...
...
Then I was called "old"...twice.
And another rush of emotion took the place of the previous one.
And grabbed a cookie and went upstairs.
